FAQ

  • We think it’s best suited to kids aged 8-14 but all kids are welcome!

    The app is just for kids... but parents don’t miss out! We’ve created parents.zown.app with a library of resources to help parents raise awesome tweens and teens who then will become awesome young adults!

  • No one can contact another person on ZOWN so it is 100% safe. We check contributions before they are shared. External links are checked to make sure they go to the right place. If you ever have a concern about content or links, please let us know hello@zown.app.

    Content is segmented for users under 12yo, 12-16yo and over 16.

  • We want as many kids using ZOWN as possible, so all the standard features are free!

    We also have a premium  subscription model for users that want a bit more - more  chats with Zed, additional content and creative contribution options, competitions and more! This costs $3.99 per month.
    The app is also advertising free. We want kids to feel safe when they use ZOWN. We will work with trusted brands on sponsored content and competitions but ONLY if they align with our brand values, and have the kid’s best interests at the forefront.

  • It is an app for kids. Please note that no adult can contact your child on ZOWN . There’s a parent website - full of great information for raising kids in this generation and that’s entirely focused on parents!

    Parents can feel good about their kids using ZOWN , because it’s been created by a parent to help kids growing up in a very different world to the one they grew up in!

    ZOWN is a bit like hiding vegetables in the spaghetti bolognese – it’s better for everyone – but maybe don’t let on!

  • ZOWN was created by mum of 4 tweens and teens, Lauren Adlam from Sydney, Australia. She wanted kids to have a safe and positive place to hang out online. Lauren has seen first-hand the highs and lows of growing up for this generation. ZOWN is a safe space for kids online. It is positive. It is using devices for good not evil. Kids feel good about the world... they feel good about themselves. Parents can feel happy about kids using ZOWN !

  • No, not always. Users tell us what they like and daily positivity posts are tailored to their likes (they can change these at any time). Discover content is segmented by age for under 12 yo, 12-16 yo and over 16 yo. This is because some content is more suited to different age groups but most will be available for all users!
